Trying not to be paranoid of every quaking leaf on a tree which appeared to be a monster about to jump her, Anita kept her mind on her destination and held her purse close. As she drew near to her home, she stopped short. A large pickup truck was parked perpendicular to the curb, halfway on top of Delanie’s front yard. “Oh, she is going to kill me!” Anita ran on her high heels to the truck and looked in. Brandon was sound asleep, his shirt hiked up his chest, his zipper open, and what appeared to be dried cum on his stomach.

“You have to be kidding me!” Anita opened the driver’s door and shook him. “Brandon!” He didn’t stir. “What are you on now? Brandon…wake up.” He knew Delanie took sleeping pills so most likely she wouldn’t be up until morning, but…this was asking too much from her tolerance level. She pinched Brandon’s arm. He didn’t budge.

“Look at the state of you.” She shook her head. “I can’t carry you, ya big lug.” Slightly panicked, Anita tried to think. “Fine. Plan B.” She walked to the passenger’s side and opened the glove compartment, taking out his registration. Once she read the address she closed her eyes to try and think of the route there. Shutting both doors to his truck, Anita tried to be quiet as she entered the house. She packed a small backpack with a change of clothing and toiletries and wrote a note for Delanie so she wouldn’t be worried she hadn’t slept home. A glance around the den and her sofa bed, and Anita left the house.

She climbed into the truck and nudged Brandon over so she could drive. His keys were hanging out of the ignition. After struggling to scoot up the seat, which she could not do with Brandon’s body weight on it, she used the backpack to prop herself up and drove the big rig off Delanie’s grass, praying she didn’t notice the tread marks. Delanie was not an avid gardener and her yard was nothing but weeds, but that wouldn’t stop her from having a raging fit.

In the wee hours of the morning, Anita drove Brandon to Culver City.
